New Hampshire Audubon Birdwatching Weekend

Purity Spring Resort is proud to partner with Phil Brown of the New Hampshire Audubon for this exciting new package weekend!
The weekend will focus on the amazing array of birds in and around Purity Spring Resort and the adjacent Hoyt Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as other well-known and little-known locations around the Mount Washington Valley and Ossipee Lake watershed.
Two-time winner of NH Audubon’s Birdathon and Sanctuaries Manager Phil Brown will lead the program.
The weekend will start off with a Friday night slide show of the typical (and not so typical) native bird species.
Saturday will be a full day of birding! The day will include a private boat tour on Squam Lake, where we will view nesting loons and eagles and a diversity of waterfowl. Later we'll enjoy an afternoon paddle around the Hoyt Sanctuary and partake in an after-dinner “owl prowl” to wrap up the day. For over 20 years Purity Lake has been a preferred nesting site for common loons, due to its serene location and floating bog mats. If there are nesting loons again this year, and we will quietly observe them from a distance.
Sunday will include a morning trip to the nearby Watts Wildlife Sanctuary and surroundings, where an array of unusual nesting songbirds can be observed. Be prepared for all types of weather and pesky bugs, the unfortunate source of the abundant bird life.
