New Hampshire Audubon Birdwatching Weekend

Purity Spring Resort is proud to partner with Phil Brown of New Hampshire Audubon for this exciting new package weekend!
The weekend will focus on the amazing array of birds around Purity Spring Resort and the adjacent Hoyt Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as other well-known and little-known locations around the Mount Washington Valley and Ossipee Lake watershed.
Two-time winner of NH Audubon's Birdathon and Sanctuaries Manager Phil Brown will lead the program.
The weekend will begin with an optional Friday night slide show and talk focusing on the typical (and not so typical) bird species of the area.
Saturday will be a full day of birding! The day will include an optional early-bird walk (remember, the early birder sees the birds!) at the Hoyt Sanctuary for warblers and other songbirds. One of the weekend's top features will follow: a private, relaxing pontoon-boat tour on Squam Lake, where we will view nesting loons and eagles and a diversity of waterbirds.
Later, we'll enjoy an afternoon paddle around the Hoyt Sanctuary on Purity Lake and partake in an after-dinner, optional "owl prowl" to wrap up the day. For over 20 years Purity Lake has been a preferred nesting site for common loons, due to its serene location and floating bog mats. We'll hope to quietly observe these beautiful birds by boat from a safe distance.
Sunday will include a morning trip to the nearby Watts Wildlife Sanctuary, where an array of unusual nesting songbirds can be observed.
We'll also make a quick stop to view one of NH's only Purple Martin nesting colonies! Be prepared for all types of weather and pesky bugs in places, the source of the area's abundant bird life.
